e Q is an installation of four concurrent sound projects
by the following artists:
-> ovalmaschine :: r a d i o q u a l i a
-> Ephemera :: Greg Peterkin
-> Tranception :: Matthew Thomas
-> Redundant Noise :: elendil
-> vision system :: zzkt
-> Ephemera :: Greg Peterkin
The audience becomes composer in an integrated electronic media environment, utilising state-of-the-art light and movement sensors to initiate fluctuating patterns of sound stimulation and composition. Ephemera enables the audience to collaboratively construct music sequences through their body movements.
Greg Peterkin is an electronic musician and new media artist, who creates soundscapes fusing the aesthetics of ambient and experimental genres. He has released CDs independently and through the Zonar Recordings label.
-> Tranception :: Matthew Thomas
Radio transmitters and receivers form the basis of a work which traverses FM frequencies, in an exploration of unintended, or serendipitous 'audio art'. Tranception encompasses pre-rendered broadcast static and the random hum of the airwaves, which is remodulated, remixed and rebroadcast live in the gallery through an antiquated transmission system. This audio material is broadcast and received, alongside purpose driven radio content, and the audio relayed from the three other e Q installations. Transception enables the 'listener' to be the musician, tuning in and out of transmitted material, revealing complexity, density or silence.
Matthew Thomas is a musician and sound artist who has performed as part of the mesm.eon sound collective, under the name Aquila, and under his given name. His releases have included Architecture (electronic sound inspired by the architecture of Adelaide), ReModulation, and P3.

-> Redundant Noise :: elendil
Employing the mechanics of a former technological era, Redundant Noise is a battle between exhumed aestheics, presented and authored on a Macintosh SE, now threatened with retirement from the otherhood of technology, to a fate as a novelty fishtank. Exploring the relationship between the utility of lo-fi interaction, and the trash aesthetics of the retro-fetish techno artefact, Redundant Noise re-evaluates the perceived 'obsolescence' of a tool which was once responsible for changing the face of computing (Macintosh SE's precipitated the desktop publishing explosion of the 1980s).
elendil is a sound and media artist who has worked collaboratively under the name insect22, with many other artists, sound agents, designers, engineers, technicians and robots. Sometimes known as mindfluX, insect22 are responsible for the Mindvirus infozine and various other interactive intrigues.
-> ovalmaschine :: r a d i o q u a l i a
The ovalmaschine connects the gallery audience with a global audience, using the internet as a mode of transmission, reception and experimentation. In a simultaneously physical and virtual sound installation, the listener recomposes arbitrary fragments of decomposed sound, folding and fusing live net.radio transmissions from around the world, into a personal audiophonic creation.
r a d i o q u a l i a, is an online audio project aiming to open an electronic portal into the eccentricities of antipodean radio space. Informed by the discrete discourses surrounding science, art and philosophy, the project creates the latitude for musicians and artists to explore distances between understandings. The nucleus of r a d i o q u a l i a, Honor Harger and Adam Hyde, are format artists interested in the integration of different types of media within creative, communication, technological and art contexts.
-> vision system :: zzkt
The vision system uses the simple mechanism of the slide projector to dissect and depict ephemeral technical processes. e Q 's temp.mecha-droid of distance, zzkt, captures the incidental by-products of technological curios in various states of deconstruction and deterioration, repurposing these moments into a tangled optical substrate.
Visual and audio manipulator, zzkt, specialises in entropic treatments of traditional form and function. He has been implicated in the experiments of collaborative entities, insect22, mindfluX and farmersmanual.
He is currently based in Hamburg and works with the design group, sprayrazorfish.
